The English Parish Church - An architectural and social history Andrew Davies Tuesday 21 November 2017

Day of Special Interest

TUESDAY 21st NOVEMBER 2017

CROSCOMBE VILLAGE HALL

The English Parish Church: an architectural and social history

with Andrew Davies

We are fortunate to have so many parish churches (c.17,000),  all different and each with their own unique story to tell.  We will explore their development both inside and out, glorying in our wool churches, commanding towers and spires and regional diversity. Churchyards, stained glass, doom paintings and errant clergymen will all feature.

Andrew is an Extra-Mural Tutor for London, Essex and The Open University; Author of 9 books, including The East End Nobody Knows; frequent contributor to radio and television; has lectured all over the world and  organises walks to complement his lectures.

The day will start with coffee at 11:00am and the first lecture will begin at 11.30am (please note later start time).  Soup will be provided at lunchtime; you may wish to bring a picnic lunch.  The day will finish at approximately 4pm.

The cost is £20 for members and £22 for non members. The application form can be found under ‘Our Society'/Documents together with the address to which to send it.
